Deleon High School | Deleon, Texas

Deleon, Texas, a town of about 2,400 was established April 16, 1881. It was named for its close proximity to the Leon river, and is a town that is fueled by oil and peanuts. Known as the "heartbeat of Texas," Deleon is home to many friendly people, young and old.

In May of 2007, the community of Deleon passed a bond to help mold and shape the future of their community. The bond would fund the design and construction of the town's new, state of the art high school.

In 2010, construction began on the  52,411 gross square foot facility. The academic features include three science labs with common adjoining chemical prep and storage rooms, library with public access, distance learning, computer lab, home economics and food lab, band hall with uniform storage, administration areas and staff work room, life skills, 12 general education classrooms, kitchen, cafetorium and stage platform with all necessary UIL one act play requirements.

The building was completed and ready for the start of the 2011 school year and is currently in use. The total cost of the 52,411 square foot high school was $6,924,453.00 - or roughly $132.12 per square foot. Finishes in the building include, porcelain ceramic floor tile, masonry, ceramic wall tile, carpet tiles, and custom, power operated window shades. This project could not have been near as successful without the help of a great contractor, school board, and school superintendent.
